Merce Cunningham Studio is available for rental Monday through Friday from 8 PM to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 PM to midnight. Rent the Studio
Contact the Technical Director by submitting a studio form to discuss your concert's requirements. The Technical Director will guide you and your production personnel in making your performance run as smoothly and professionally as possible. In addition to your lighting and technical crew, you must provide at least two people to handle seating, box office and programs. Learn about our rental Rates.
Studio Policies
The Studio is a multi-use facility and we ask you to respect it as such. The Studio is used for daily technique classes and rehearsal; therefore the premises must be cleaned and equipment restored before you leave each night.
• A $100 clean-up deposit will be required.
• No smoking, eating, or drinking is permitted.
• No glycerin, oil base, make-up, or other fluids are permitted.
• Only dance shoes will be permitted on the dance floor.
• Secure the Drop (cyclorama) properly each night.
• The plants may not be moved or disturbed in any way.
• The office phones are not to be used for any reason.
Our piano is available and the Studio will tune (if needed) at your expense. The piano cannot be moved from its area. There are eighty-nine permanently cabled circuits available, connected to the overhead grid with plastic ties. These ties may not be cut for any reason. If gel is cut from stock sheets, please label it with a grease pencil and refile into the appropriate folder. Anything hung for a concert should be well secured each night at least ten feet above the dance floor. Cable and gel frames should never be dropped on the floor. If you are using sets, speak to the Technical Director about the Studio's limitations.
Following your final performance, you must restore the Studio to its original condition and remove all equipment, clothing, etc., before the following day. Lighting additional to the Repertory Plot, special markings on the floor, as well as those on circuits, instruments, and gel frames must be removed. The patch must be pulled, color media sorted and filed, and all set pieces and costumes must be removed from the Studio. Learn more about our Technical Inventory. |
